The Sabbath day is Saturday, not Sunday.

As the worshiper of God, we should worship God through His commandment. One of the characteristic of the last saints is to keep God’s commandments. Among God’s commandments, today, let us study about the worship day. As you know, the worship day of God in the Bible is the Sabbath. Among 10 commandments, God commanded His people to keep the Sabbath Holy.

 Ex 20:8-11Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”

In order to keep it holy, we should know which day is the Biblical Sabbath day. The origin of the Sabbath begins from the creation work of God.

 Ge 2:1-3 “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”

Sabbath is a day of rest. God created all things in six days, and on the seventh day He rested from all His creation work. And God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy as a memorial of the authority of the Creator.

In order to be holy and be blessed by God, we should keep the Sabbath holy as our custom. Moreover, in this Sabbath, God’s precious promise is hidden—the eternal rest God has prepared for those who are to be saved; they will enter it when God’s will has been completely accomplished on earth. In order to enter the eternal rest, which we hope for, we must keep the Sabbath holy as a symbol of the everlasting rest.

Then, when is the Biblical Sabbath? As you know many Christians nowadays keep the Sunday service, therefore they regard Sunday as the Biblical Sabbath. Unfortunately, it’s not true. Now, let’s examine the day of Sabbath through many evidences. First of all, let’s see the evidence from the Bible.

We can clearly understand that the Sabbath is Saturday by looking at record about Jesus’ resurrection from the gospel of Mark.

 Mk 16:9 “When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene . . .”

As we know, Jesus resurrected on Sunday. About this, the Bible says Jesus rose on the first day of the week. If Sunday is the first day of the week, when is the seventh day? It is Saturday. Therefore, another version of the Bible wrote that the resurrection of Jesus is Sunday as follows;

Mk 16:9 TEV “After Jesus rose from death early on Sunday, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene. . . ”

As we can see from the above verse, “the first day of the week” and “Sunday” are the same day. Since the first day of the week is Sunday, the seventh day is Saturday. Therefore, we can clearly see that the Biblical Sabbath [the seventh day] is Saturday, not Sunday.

According to the Bible, only those who do the will of God can enter the kingdom of Heaven. Which is God’s will, Sunday that is not in the Bible or the Sabbath on Saturday? To keep the Sabbath on Saturday is the will of God. Therefore, only those who keep the Sabbath, following the Bible, can enter the kingdom of heaven. Nowadays the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) keeps the Sabbath according to the teaching of Jesus. Please come to WMSCOG and keep the Sabbath Holy and enter the kingdom of Heaven together.

    The Ten Commandments are the basic teachings of God that God’s people must know and keep. But those who claim to know God do not keep the Sabbath day or do not know God’s Sabbath Day, following man’s tradition and custom. How can they be so sure that they know the true God of Heaven who can give them salvation?

    Many people might think of the Sabbath of the Old Testament. However, the World Mission Society Church of God keeps the Sabbath of the New Testament (or the New Covenant) by following the teachings of Jesus. We should keep the New Covenant including the Passover and the Sabbath in this age.

    Sabbath is not for the righteous man but for the sinners. We all are the sinners who need the forgiveness of sins in order to enter to Heaven. We should give thanks to God who give the Sabbath ,and obey it.

    Sabbath day implies deeper implications, not only as weekly feast of God. It represents the eternal rest we will enjoy in heaven. In here, there is the reason why we have to keep and respect it worthily. If you want to go in heaven, keep God’s Sabbath day on Sat first, plz!
