The bible teaches that we must return to God.

2 Chronicles 30:6 At the king’s command, couriers went throughout Israel and Judah with letters from the king and from his officials, which read: “People of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you who are left, who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria. 7 Do not be like your parents and your fellow Israelites, who were unfaithful to the Lord, the God of their ancestors, so that he made them an object of horror, as you see. 8 Do not be stiff-necked, as your ancestors were; submit to the Lord. Come to his sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the Lord your God, so that his fierce anger will turn away from you. 9 If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him.”

Here the message given to God’s people is clear. We have to return to God. Let us think about the meaning of this message: returning to God. The word “return” means goes back. Through this we can know that originally we were with God but somehow we got separated from God.

Then what was the cause of the separation? If we know the reason why we got separated from God, we can also know how to return to God.

Isaiah 59:1 Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

The bible says that we who were with God left the presence of God because of our sins. In other words, it is the sins that we committed that separated us from our God. The cause of the separation was our sins.

Then how can we return to God? The very first thing that we should do is to receive the forgiveness for our sins from God. If God acquits all the sins we committed, then we can be free from sins and can return to God.

Ephesians 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.

The bible teaches us that we can be forgiven of our sins through the blood of Christ sealed in the Passover the new covenant. God opened the way to return to God and salvation through the Passover.

Matthew 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the[b] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

However, during the Dark Age, the truth of the new covenant Passover was abolished. Satan destroyed the traffic sign to heaven. And no one could find the way to God again and receive salvation.

Through the grace of God, Christ came once more down to this earth and restored the new covenant Passover that we can find the way to return to God. Let us keep the Passover with a thankful mind for the forgiveness of sins God granted through his love and sacrifice.
