Many churches today claim to observe the Sabbath by holding Sunday services. They claim that because Jesus was resurrected on Sunday, they keep Sunday as the Sabbath to commemorate the power of the resurrected God.

However, because Jesus was resurrected on Sunday, there is nothing in the Bible that says to keep Sunday as the Sabbath.

It is only natural that we celebrate Easter, commemorating the power of Jesus' resurrection. But that and the Sabbath are completely different. God has given us weekly and annual feasts to keep. Each commandment contains God's will.

As a weekly feast, the Sabbath is a day to commemorate the power of God, the Creator. The Sabbath exists as a way to properly serve God, the Creator who created heaven and earth and all things, including us. The Sabbath is a day to remember the history of God creating heaven and earth in six days in the beginning and resting on the seventh day, and at the same time it is a day to commemorate the power of God the Creator. So, whenever God gave the commandment to keep the Sabbath, he mentioned the history of the creation of heaven and earth.

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your cities. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Exodus 31:16-17 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed.

We must remember the power of the Creator and keep the seventh day, Saturday, holy as the Sabbath. Additionally, we must observe Easter as an annual feast with the power of God's resurrection and the hope of our own resurrection. All the seasons ordained by God contain meaning. We must properly understand God's will in Easter and the Sabbath and keep God's commandments according to God's thoughts, not people's thoughts.
