Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed disasters to the people of Israel. Why do people not receive salvation? Why do their souls get destroyed in the lake of fire? What underlies in all these disasters? What is the cause of all the destruction?

We have to find answer for these questions because the teachings of God given to the Israel people are actually given to us, the spiritual Jews of today.

Jeremiah 6:19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

The main cause of disasters and destructions is the fruit of their thought, or the result of following their thoughts. People cannot know what will happen in the future. They cannot see a day, even a minute ahead. Their thoughts are confined in time and space. Therefore, the judgment they make is limited and narrow confined to the specific time and the specific place.

Despite the narrowness of their thoughts and judgments, it is not easy for people to get rid of their thoughts. They are stubborn to stick on to their ideas and thoughts even though they are biased and prejudiced. Because of this tendency, people do not obey the commands of God. Rather they hold on to their own thought and idea.

God knows what lies ahead and give us warnings so that we can be protected from the disasters and destructions. God is the Almighty and Omniscient and He knows everything. But people do not listen to the words of God.

Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

God knows the way to salvation and he teaches people to leave their own ways and follow his commands. But people do not listen. They stubbornly follow their own way of destruction. For this reason, the disasters and destructions are coming upon them. We should let go of our own thought, which is futile; we should follow the thoughts of God, which make us prosperous.
