We must know where our souls came from, why our souls put on flesh and live in this sinful world, and where we go when we leave the world. We don't know where we come from, we don't know where we're going. There is a place where the human soul comes from and where it goes. Although the body comes from this world and then disappears from this world, our souls are bound to return to where it came from.

Pharaoh asked him, "How old are you?" And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty. (Ge 47:8-9)

Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.(Ps119:54,KJV)

All these people were still living by faith when they die..... And they admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth. ...they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one (Heb11:13-16)

Therefore, if you look at the words of the forefathers of faith, we are aliens and strangers for a while on earth from the previous world. Also, the place where our souls will return, that is, our hometown, is Heaven. However, the reason most people forget about their hometown is because their eyes are covered with the veil of sin and their thoughts on the previous world have been completely forgotten.
