Prophet Amos prophesies about a time when people suffer from famine and thirst in the last days. Even though they try hard, they would not find water to quench their thirst and they will wither because of the lack of water. What is the cause of the famine? And how can we get the water to quench the thirst?

Amos 8:11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign Lord, “when I will send a famine through the land—not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord. 12 People will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it. 13 “In that day “the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst. 14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria—who say, ‘As surely as your god lives, Dan,’ or, ‘As surely as the god[b] of Beersheba lives’— they will fall, never to rise again.”

People will travel here and there to look for the water, but they would not be able to find it. And because of the thirst, they would wither and “fall, never to rise again.” Then what is the cause of the thirst? People are thirst because they cannot get the water or the words of God. Because they cannot find the words of God, they suffer thirst and famine.

Then what is the reason they cannot find the words of God? To find the water, we have to know the source of water. If you are in a desert and thirsty, you must know where an oasis is and you must go there to drink water from it. Spiritually, it is the same. To drink the water, they must know the source of the water, that is, God.

2000 years ago, God came in the name of Jesus, but people did not know him. They rejected him who could give the free gift of the water of life. How about now? They are many who are searching for the water, the words of God. They go here and there to find the truth, but they cannot find it. What is the reason? It is because they do not know the source of water of life in the last days.

Revelation 22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.

The Spirit and the bride are the source of the water of life. If only could they meet the Spirit and the bride, then they would be able to drink freely the water of life. They would be no more thirsty and no more hungry. But they do not know who the Spirit and the bride are. Just as God called Apostles to deliver the water of life to those who are thirsty and hungry, God called us today to do the same work to the whole world. Let us carry and deliver the message of salvation coming from the Spirit and the Bride to the ends of the earth.
