God promised blessings to His people. First, God chose the Israelites and blessed them abundantly. He promised that they would be prosperous in whatever they are doing.

Deuteronomy 28:1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: 3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. 4 The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. ….12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.

God promised them prosperity and abundance. However, the promise given to them was physical, not spiritual. By believing in God, they could enjoy physical prosperity and wellbeing. However, these blessings given to the Israelites were just a copy and shadow for the reality. Jesus confirmed this by saying, “it is hard for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.”

Then what is the true blessings that we can receive from God? The true blessings are the heaven and the glory we will receive in heaven. Everything on this earth is temporary. The riches, honor, glory can be taken away when situations change. However, the glory in heaven cannot be changed. God promised that it would be eternal. And God teaches us to work for the eternal glory in heaven, which is everlasting.

Matthew 6:19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

God teaches us to work for the eternal Kingdom of Heaven and in that way we can store blessings in heaven, which will be everlasting blessings. Then what is the work that we should do to receive blessings in heaven. It is the work of Father and Mother. God came to seek and save the lost and as children of God we also must take part in the work of God by preaching the gospel.
