What is the meaning of the Ascension Day that the WMSCOG observes?

2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, came to this earth as a human, and Jesus Christ was crucified as the Passover lamb and resurrected on the third day. The resurrected Jesus appeared to the apostles, showed them that he was alive, told them about the kingdom of God, and ascended to heaven in front of the apostles on the Mount of Olives on the 40th day after his resurrection.

Ascension Day, observed by the WMSCOG, commemorates the ascension of Jesus Christ. And Ascension is a truly significant hope for Christians as Jesus's last step. The Bible says that just as Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, God's people will be caught up in the clouds and ascend to heaven.

[1 Thessalonians 4:16-18] For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.

"caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air" It means that, just as Jesus ascended into heaven, we also undergo change and ascend from the state of being alive.

[Revelation 14:1] Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

[Revelation 14:12] This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God's commandments and remain faithful to Jesus.

Zion is the place where God's feasts [Isaiah 33:20], that is the place where God's commandments are kept.
Just as Jesus ascended to heaven, God promised the blessing of ascension to those who keep God's commandment in Zion, where God dwells.

The WMSCOG keeps God's feasts which means God's commandments. That is the reason why God dwells in the WMSCOG. And Ascension Day is the promise of an ascension to heaven!
