Melchizedek, A Mysterious Person in the Bible.

I would like to write about why I came to accept and fully believe in Christ Ahnsahnghong who was the founder of the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) as the true Second Coming Christ. Of numerous prophecies and crystal-clear evidences proving Christ Ahnsahnghong to be the Second Coming Christ, I would like to write about “Melchizedek.”

When it comes to “Melchizedek”, not many people have any ideas about it, even though Apostle Paul said, as follows:

Hebrews 5:11 We have MUCH to say about this(Melchizedek), but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn.

Apostle Paul did not, in any way, mean that we should not know about Melchizedek, but rather that there were so many mysteries about him that could not be unraveled, in those days.

By the way, I just want to let you know that no other church, but WMSCOG, could teach me about Melchizedek.

First, let’s find out who Melchizedek is.

Genesis 14:18~20 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out BREAD and WINE. He was PRIEST of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.”…

In the Old Testament times, priests would sacrifice lambs and goats for blessings of God, but Melchizedek was a priest that used BREAD and WINE which was an UNUSUAL practice that distinguished him from other priests, in those days. The Old Testament serves as a shadow of the reality which is the New Testament.

Who, then, is the reality of Melchizedek, the priest who uses BREAD and WINE, instead of lambs and goats, in the New Testament times?

Matthew 26:26~28 While they were eating, Jesus took BREAD, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took the CUP, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.” This is my blood of the covenant which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

In the New Testament times, what distinguished Jesus from other priests is that he used bread and wine, instead of lambs and goats. He gave us eternal life, through the Passover Bread and Wine.

Obviously, who would you guess to be the reality of Melchizedek, in the New Testament times? Of course, but Jesus.

Hebrews 5:8~10 Although he was a son(Jesus), he learned obedience from what he suffered and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him and was designated by God to be HIGH PRIEST in the order of MELCHIZEDEK.

It’s obvious that Jesus was the very reality of Melchizedek. However, why did Apostle Paul say that it was hard to explain that Jesus was the Melchizedek? Let’s read more, about Melchizedek,

Hebrews 7:1~3 This MELCHIZEDEK was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him. and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, his name means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” WITHOUT FATHER OR MOTHER, WITHOUT GENEALOGY, without beginning of days or end of life, like the Son of God he remains a priest forever.

Let’s analyze why it was difficult to explain that Jesus was Melchizedek:

1) WITHOUT FATHER OR MOTHER:

Is there anyone born without father and mother? None! We should interpret this characteristic of Melchizedek, spiritually.

Matthew 12:50 For whoever does the WILL of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.

According to the bible, only those who do the will of God are recognized as God’s family. In fact, “Without Father or Mother” means to be born into a family of unbelievers. However, Jesus’ parents were Joseph and Mary who were, both, faithful followers of God.  In other words, Jesus was born WITH FATHER AND MOTHER, spiritually speaking.

2) WITHOUT GENEALOGY:

Anyone who is a descendant of Abraham, has a genealogy. The book of Matthew, the first Book of the New Testament, already shows the genealogy of Jesus, against the conditions of Melchizedek.

After learning about these two conditions of Melchizedek, we can see why it must have been difficult to explain that Jesus was Melchizedek.

So, Apostle Paul concluded, in the book of Hebrews, that Jesus must appear a second time to fulfill all the conditions of Melchizedek.

Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a SECOND TIME, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

According to this prophecy, the Second Coming Christ must come again and fulfill the above conditions about Melchizedek.

1) He must be born into a family of unbelievers, because he must be without father or mother.

2) He must be born in a country, other than Israel, because he must be without genealogy.

3) He must bring us the Passover of the New Covenant which is the hard sign of Melchizedek.

4) He must be true God, because he is without beginning of days or end of life. Only God alone, is without beginning of days or end of life.

It is only Christ Ahnsahnghong who fulfills all the conditions of Melchizedek. He was born into a family of unbelievers in Korea which is a gentile country. He also brought us the Passover Bread and Wine, the hard sign of Melchizedek. Therefore, he is without beginning of days or end of life:

Isaiah 25:6~8 On this mountain the LORD ALMIGHTY will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of AGED WINE-the best of meats and the finest of wines. On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.

In the last days, God prepares a feast of rich food for all peoples through aged wine. The purpose of the aged wine is to destroy death, forever, and give us eternal life. The wine that can swallow up death is only the Passover wine, but why is the Passover wine, aged? It is because the Passover was abolished in AD 325 at the council of Nicae and for about 1600 years, it has not been kept.

Let’s find out who the one who brings us the Passover bread and wine, is.

Isaiah 25:9 In that day they will say, “Surely THIS is our GOD; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”

The one who brings us the restored Passover is our true God. The Passover that was lost for 1600 years was restored by Christ Ahnsahnghong. In the Old Testament times, only Melchizedek would use the bread and wine; in the New Testament times, only Jesus would use the bread and wine; and in our time, only Christ Ahnsahnghong used the bread and wine of the Passover to bless us with eternal life, by destroying death, forever.

Therefore, we, who keep the Passover, should boldly proclaim “surely, THIS (Christ Ahnsahnghong who brought us the Passover) is our true GOD!!” and “let us rejoice and be GLAD in his SALVATION!”, according to the prophecies of the bible.
